Customer Registration

Welcome to GoBy! Creating a customer account takes less than 2 minutes. Follow this step-by-step guide to get started:

📋 STEP 1 — Open the Registration Page
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• Go to your regional GoBy website (e.g., egy.goby.com for Egypt or usa.goby.com for USA).
• Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation bar.
• The registration page opens with a clean, step-by-step form.

✍️ STEP 2 — Fill in Your Details
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You have two registration methods:

📧 Method A — Email + Password:
• First Name — Your real first name (max 100 characters).
• Last Name — Your real last name (max 100 characters).
• Email Address — Must be a valid, unique email you have access to.
• Phone Number — Include your country code (e.g., +20 for Egypt, +1 for USA).
• Password — Must be at least 8 characters and include:
✓ At least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
✓ At least one lowercase letter (a-z)
✓ At least one number (0-9)
✓ At least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
✗ Cannot be too similar to your name or email
✗ Cannot be a commonly used password

🔵 Method B — Continue with Google:
• Click the "Continue with Google" button.
• Select your Google account from the popup.
• Your name and email are filled in automatically.
• No password needed — Google handles your authentication.
• No OTP verification needed — Google already verified your email.

✅ STEP 3 — Email Verification (OTP)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⚠️ This step only applies if you registered with Email + Password (not Google).

• After clicking "Register", a 6-digit verification code (OTP) is sent to your email.
• Open your email inbox and find the message from GoBy.
• Enter the 6-digit code in the verification screen.
• The code is valid for 10 minutes.
• You get a maximum of 3 attempts to enter the correct code.

📩 Didn't receive the code?
• Check your Spam/Junk folder.
• Make sure you typed the correct email during signup.
• Click "Resend Code" — you can resend after a short cooldown.
• Wait at least 2 minutes before requesting another code.

🎉 STEP 4 — You're In!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
After verification, your account is automatically activated!
Customer accounts don't require admin approval.

You can now:
✓ Browse restaurants and menus in your area
✓ Add items to your cart and place orders
✓ Track your delivery in real-time on the map
✓ Rate and review restaurants and drivers
✓ Manage your profile and saved addresses

⚠️ COMMON ISSUES & TROUBLESHOOTING
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• "User with this email already exists" — You already have an account. Try logging in instead, or use "Forgot Password" if needed.
• "Password is too common" — Choose a more unique password that isn't in the list of commonly used passwords.
• OTP expired — Request a new code by clicking "Resend Code". Each new code invalidates the previous one.
• Google Sign-Up not working — Make sure popups are not blocked in your browser. Try a different browser if the issue persists.

📌 Pro Tips:
• Use a real phone number — drivers will contact you through it during delivery.
• Add your delivery address after registration for faster checkout.
• Enable push notifications to stay updated on your order status.

If you haven't received the 6-digit OTP code after registering, don't worry — this is usually easy to fix. Follow these troubleshooting steps:

1️⃣ Check your Spam/Junk folder
Verification emails sometimes get filtered. Look for an email from GoBy with the subject "Your Verification Code".

2️⃣ Verify your email address
Double-check that you typed the correct email during signup. Even one character wrong means the code goes to the wrong inbox.

3️⃣ Resend the code
Click "Resend Code" on the verification page. Each time you resend, the old code is invalidated and a brand new 6-digit code is generated.

4️⃣ Wait before resending
There is a short cooldown between resend attempts. Wait at least 60 seconds before requesting another code.

5️⃣ Check your email provider
Some corporate or university email servers may delay delivery. If possible, try registering with a Gmail or Outlook address.

⏳ OTP Code Details
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• Code length: 6 digits (numeric only)
• Valid for: 10 minutes from the time it was sent
• Max attempts: 3 per code
• After expiry: Click "Resend" to get a fresh code
• Old codes: Automatically invalidated when a new one is sent

⚠️ Special Cases
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• Google Sign-Up users do NOT receive an OTP — Google handles your email verification automatically.
• If you entered the wrong email during registration, you cannot change it. You'll need to register again with the correct email.
• If the problem persists for more than 10 minutes, contact GoBy Support through the help page.
• Some email providers may take up to 5 minutes to deliver. Be patient before clicking Resend.
